Xiaochuan Pan - M.A., B.Sc.TCM (China), Dr.TCM, CCAOM Principal

Xiaochuan Pan received his Bachelor of Science degree in TCM in 1983 from the Hei Long Jiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China. He then completed his Master of Science degree (microbiology & immunology) at the Dalian Medical College, China. Since 1990, he has been the founder and director of the Dalian Institute of Integrating Traditional and Modern Medicine. Dr. Pan has been a TCM instructor in Canada for several years and has his own practice in Victoria, BC. In addition, he is a talented instructor and musician using traditional Chinese musical instruments.

Charles Alsberg - B.Sc., N.D., R.Ac.

Dr. Charles Alsberg received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry (University of California, San Diego). He completed pre-med courses at the University of Victoria, and his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (Portland, Oregon). Since 1975, Dr. Alsberg has studied and practised acupuncture and TCM, which form an integral part of his naturopathic practice on Saltspring Island and in Victoria, BC.

Andrew Bernhart - CSP, Nutritional Counsellor

Mr. Bernhart, is a graduate of the Heartwood Institute in California. His main focus of study included Whole Foods Nutrition with the author of "Healing With Whole Foods", Paul Pitchford. Mr. Bernhart operates a full time practice in Victoria with emphasis on Chinese Diet Therapy.

Anne Bowles - M.A.

Anne has a professional background in teaching, counselling, community development and health management. Anne has been a keynote speaker, organizer and workshop facilitator at international, national and provincial conferences. In addition to her experience in private practice, the Ministry of Health, and as an executive director of a not for profit organization, she brings her research and interest in organizational and professional ethics and leadership.

Kai Chen - B.Sc., M.M., Ph.D (China), Dr.TCM

Dr. Kai Chen completed his Bachelor of Science degree at the Beijing College of TCM. He went on to receive his Master of Medicine from the China Academy of TCM, ultimately receiving his Ph.D. in Traditional Chinese Medicine. He was an associate professor in China from 1985-1997 and has produced many TCM research publications. Dr. Kai Chen has been teaching and practicing TCM in Canada since 1997 and currently has a TCM practice in Victoria, BC. www.victoriaacupuncture.net

Melissa Da Silva - B.Sc., Ph.D.

Melissa received her Bachelor of Science degree in 2002 with a major in Microbiology from the University of Victoria. She recently completed a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Victoria. Her research areas include poxvirus gene expression and poxvirus genome analysis. Melissa joined the CCAOM in July of 2005 where she teaches Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology.

Melissa de Haan - R.TCMP

Melissa received her Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine from the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Victoria, in 1995. She operates the Tian Ling Dao TCM Clinic in the city of Victoria. Ms. De Haan also studied veterinary acupuncture under the supervision of Marlene Smith D.V.M. and worked on a referral basis at Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital.

Jaime de Melo - B.Sc., N.D.

Jaime graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and is a member of the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia and the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapists Naturopathy. Jaime has developed and instructed workshops and tutorials for the Naturopathic Botanical Society, the Ontario Science Centre and the University of Toronto. In addition, Jaime is the Founder/President of the CAM Product Guide, an online resource publication for health care professionals in the Complementary and Alternative Medicine field.

Harris Fisher - R.TCMP

Harris received his undergraduate degree from the University of Calgary majoring in Religious Studies and Applied Ethics with a strong focus in Asian religion and language. In 2006, he graduated from the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Victoria with a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine diploma. Following this he has completed internships and advanced study with doctors of TCM in Victoria, Whitehorse, as well as in hospitals in China. Since returning from China, Harris has been working at CCAOM as the Admissions Officer and as the instructor of the Acupuncturist Licensing Exam preperatory course.

Michael Greenwood - M.D., Guest Lecturer

Dr. Greenwood was born in Singapore and came to Canada in 1954 at the age of five. He was trained at St. John University Cambridge and St. Mary Hospital London University, and then interned at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, B.C. He worked as a country General Practitioner for a year in rural Australia. His background and experience as well as his understanding of Chinese Medicine provide an alternative perspective on complementary medicine. His insight is making a fine contribution to helping amalgamate medicine of the East and the West.

Bryan Hardy - B.A., R.TCMP

Bryan Hardy finished his study in two TCM colleges for his TCMP diploma in Victoria and runs a private clinic in Victoria as well. He supervises the clinic in CCAOM and specializes in Five-Element acupuncture. Most recently he has helped to spearhead Auricular Acupuncture for addictions and detox at CCAOM.

Matt Kupnicki - R.Ac

Matt Kupnicki received his diploma of Acupuncture at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Victoria, BC. Matt specialized in musculosketetal injuries, combining orthopedic assessment with motor point acupuncture and deep tissue massage. Matt takes a hands-on approach to healing, drawing on the holistic perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Matt has a practice in Victoria BC as well as Tofino, BC, where he offers TCM services to the Clayoquot Sound region. Matt enjoys an array of outdoor activities and takes advantage of the surfing opportunities and solitude of the rugged west coast.

Todd Levins - B.Sc., N.D.

Dr. Levins received his Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Victoria. He later completed his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (Toronto). Todd is in private practice in Victoria at Synergy Health Management where he has a particular interest in musculoskeletal injury and disorders as well as chronic illness. Dr. Levins believes strongly that health is a balanced, dynamic expression of vital physical, mental, emotional and spiritual energy.

Michael Lium-Hall - R.Ac.

Michael received his B.A. in Human Ecology and Education in 1991. He worked for several years within private and public schools as a classroom instructor and special education teacher, working with children diagnosed with ADHD, Autism, and a variety of other learning disabilities. In 1994 he began his studies in health. His studies include: Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Massage, Yoga Therapy, Addictions, Music Therapy, and Organizational Psychology. Michael has worked with people of all ages, from small children to the elderly. He has practiced and taught in a wide variety of settings, including: health clinics, health spas, yoga studios, hospice, retirement homes, corporations, and colleges. Michael has been in private practice for more than 8 years. He is a Registered Acupuncturist, Bodyworker, and Yoga therapist. Laura-Lynn Pollock - B.Sc.(Pharm), NARTC Dip. Asthma Care

Laura-Lynn Pollock has been actively practicing as a pharmacist for over 30 years and a health educator for over 20 years focusing  on patient, professional and public education. She specializes in women's health, asthma and allergy care, smoking cessation, depression, areas of psychiatry and HIV. Lynn has received the Master Teacher Award for Excellence in Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBC and the Squibb Award of Excellence in Pharmaceutical Teaching.

Chris Sihoe - B.Sc., Dr.TCM

Chris received his Diploma of Chinese Medicine from the college in 1991. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Victoria. He is a senior instructor with the Taoist Tai Chi Society and has a private acupuncture practice in Victoria. Chris is a former Chair of the East West Medical Society.

Lijun Song - R.Ac., Dr. of TCM (China)

Lijun was trained and had been working as a TCM doctor since 1985 in Heilongjiang University of TCM in Northern China. In 1999, she moved to Alberta and started her career as a TCM Doctor and Acupuncturist. Lijun moved to Victoria to teach and start an Acupuncture practice. She specializes in pain control, stress management, and facial rejuvenation.

Noel Taylor -

Noel Taylor has practiced and taught Oriental Bodywork since 1985. She is a senior teacher with the Jin Shin Do® Foundation & the American Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia with a specialty in Bodymind Counselling. Her work brings together her long term interests in spirituality, oriental medicine, quantum physics, social justice, community building, and bodymind integration techniques. Noel is the current past-president of the British Columbia Acupressure Therapists' Association and has been on the CCAOM faculty since 2002. She maintains a private practice in Victoria & on Lasqueti Island.

Willo Jordan Walker - Dr. TCM, Guest Lecturer

Dr. Willo Walker has been practicing Oriental Medicine for over fifteen years. His approach to acupuncture draws from, Five Elements, Japanese, Classical Chinese, TCM and French Energetics. Willo is also a skilled Tui Na teacher and has an extensive background in bodywork including Shiatsu and Swedish Massage. His passion is integrating TCM with body-centered psychotherapy. Willo now runs two practices, the Kang Ren Clinic in Victoria, BC and Dragon Wood on Denman Island, BC.

Kit Wong - R.Ac., Qi Gong Master

Mr. Wong Has over 30 years experience in teaching Qi Gong, Chinese Martial Arts and practicing and teaching Traditional Chinese Medicine. Mr. Wong also maintains a thriving TCM clinic in Victoria, BC.

Li Yan - MD (China), R.TCMP

Li Yan graduated from the Dalian Medical College in China with a Bachelor of Science in Medicine in 1992. She was employed as an MD at the Dalian Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine from 1992-1999. Li Yan has been instructing a CCAOM since 2004, and has also instructed at Oshio College of Acupuncture and the International College of TCM in Victoria, BC.

Chantelle X. Zhuang - R.TCMP, Dr. of TCM (China)

Chantelle graduated from Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine with her Masters Degree of Medicine, specializing in acupuncture, in 1998. Her studies also included a six-year apprenticeship with Xian Changren, Master of Chinese Herbs. Chantelle has practiced as a Doctor of Acupuncture for ten years in China and one year in Italy. She has also taught TCM at the University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Nanjing and the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Victoria, BC. Chantelle heals her patients through a combination of acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and Chinese massage.
